Do you ever find that when you concentrate on a certain aspect of your work, you start to notice other related topics and websites and relevant people start to pop up all over the place?
I've delivered 2 speeches recently about 'Becoming an expert in your field' and have 2 more to deliver and then quite by chance, Elene Marsden sends me her wonderful answers about her talent and guess what...it's that she's an expert in her field! Fabulous! Read Elene's words carefully and work out how you can become an expert in your field...
1. What talent do you naturally have that makes you successful?
I am good at explaining how to do things clearly. I like to use a step by step approach to plan projects. I find it easy to take a topic and break it down into chunks. Once I get stuck into something I will find out everything I can about a topic and become an expert in it. This takes time but I am happy to keep going no matter what.
2. When did you first realise that talent was going to help you and how do you use it?
When I first started out in business, I had limited IT knowledge and now I am an expert IT trainer. 5 years ago I discovered ACT! by Sage and was inspired by this contact management software. I taught myself how to use it. Then as a Sage Business partner I started to look at new ways to help people get the best from their software. That was 2 years ago and now I have a successful online ACT! training company. At the end of last year I recorded an ACT! Fundamentals training CD which is selling well on Amazon. I planned all of the courses myself and recorded the videos. It was painstaking work but my talent of perseverance kept me going.
Well done Elene! You can visit Elene's website by clicking here.
