The talent being profiled today belongs to Rachel Davies and it's one that so many women would benefit from reading about. Rachel's talent is the ability to naturally feel so sure about her opinions, thoughts and feelings, that she is never persuaded to do something she doesn't feel is right.
To Rachel, this comes naturally, however, to many of my clients, they've had to practice this. They've had to practice how and when to recognise those internal warning signs that they're not 100% happy with a decision. Then they've learnt to analyse why they're not happy so they can articulate it in a sensible, coherent fashion that makes for a compelling argument.
In the long run, it means that they never compromise on their feelings, making them sure of themselves all of the time. Is this a talent you have? Do you recognise part of Rachel in you too? Perhaps you've feel unable to do this and feel pressured to go along with other peoples plans? Rachel says you don't have to do that anymore, I agree, and here's why;
1. What talent do you naturally have that makes you successful?
I believe the talent I have that makes me successful is not compromising on my feelings and beliefs. I think it is very important in business that if you do not want to do something or feel that it is wrong, that you say so. I have always been able to communicate with people at all levels and not feel intimidated by those more senior or successful than me – as at the end of the day we are all just people – and that is what I always try to remind myself! So I make sure I make decisions based on what I think is right and never allow myself to be pushed into agreeing or going along with something that deep down I don't agree with.
2. When did you realise that talent was going to help you and how do you use it?
I first realised this talent was going to help me in one of my first office jobs and my boss said 'I think we should do this' – my gut feeling was that it was wrong and I had the choice of keeping my boss happy and just going along with it or speaking my mind for the good of the business. I found that, even if they don't agree with you, people respect you more for being open and honest and speaking your mind in a constructive and helpful way and then you can have a discussion until everyone is happy with the decision.
Rachel has a brand new business launched just this year, so UltimateBootCamp.co.uk to check it out.
