Now this talent is music to my ears! Like many people, I get frustrated if anything I tackle seems unnecessarily time consuming or complicated just for the sake of it. Another woman who decided to take a stand against complexity is Angela Peacock. She is known for consistently taking the difficult and turning it into simple, doesn't she sound like the kind of person you'd like to meet? Well you can read more about her thoughts right here;
1. What talent do you naturally have that makes you successful?
The ability to take complex ideas and make them easy to understand.
2. When did you first realise that talent was going to help you and how do you use it?
When I first began to work in the training and development field. As a new trainer, I simply took theories and ideas and turned them into manageable an understandable learning interventions. This took me from team building in front line manufacturing outlets ,to working with senior teams. At every level there are basic principles applicable, but the higher you go, the more complex they become.
I work on the same basis with Boards who may want to design and implement new strategies or develop new cultures; looking at what they want to achieve and working from there, taking the complex and making it not only simple, but applicable. It is vital to the success of any plan. Challenging unnecessary complexity is what my reputation is built on. I have applied this when building all three of my businesses. The People development Team has an outstanding reputation for developing careers and delivering superb training that produced results. Both of these areas take the most straightforward routes. My constant companion is a voice in my head that asks "Can this be made easier?"
My speaking career has blossomed because of this and I am now asked to speak at events and chair meetings and seminars across the globe because of the clarity and definition I bring to whatever subject I am asked to address. We have developed two new businesses in the last twelve months. Both of them challenge the way business is currently being done in their areas and both do it by simplifying the message they send to the client and the way that they operate internally. Simplicity is best!
