My next pink expert is impressive by anyone's standards. Her level of self-awareness is acute, meaning she's able to capitalise on what she's good at and ditch what she's bad at! How cool to be able to do that and be a flying success at it? Well, Elizabeth Kuhnke does it very well, and it all started by playing a piglet at primary school...who knew!
1. What talent do you naturally have that makes you successful?
I’m a combination of talents that fall under the umbrella of self-awareness. I recognise my strengths and my weaknesses. I know what works for me and what doesn’t. I embrace what matters to me and I let the rest go. I know that I only succeed when there’s a support team working beside me. By utilising my self-awareness I understand how my natural empathy for others, optimism, and sense of fun sit comfortably together, they work in tandem with attention to detail, focus and follow through, I know what I’m good at and where I need help.
2. When did you first realise that talent was going to help you and how do you use it?
At the age of four, playing the part of a piglet in a nursery school production of Old MacDonald’s Farm, having once visited a farm, I was familiar with animal sounds and performed my part with gusto. The audience laughed and it was then that I became aware of the impact of my behaviour. This self-awareness came to fruition through my work with The Junior League of London in the 1990s. As part of the Learning and Development team, I developed a passion for training and coaching around the area of interpersonal communication, helping people be themselves at their best by communicating with clarity, confidence and commitment. I call myself a diamond polisher. Believing, as I do, in the inherent worth that lies within each one of us, with a bit of searching, shaping, smoothing, and sharpening I help release people’s radiance.
