Spotting opportunities

I'm very proud to introduce my next pink expert, it's Pink Skills sponsor Juliet Price. Having started her company from a clients stationery cupboard (yes really!) over the past 12 years she's turned her company, Park City, into a thriving business and has won a string of accolades in the process, including the Institute of Directors East of England Business Woman of the Year's main award a few years ago. So when I asked Juliet what talent she naturally has and how she uses it in her business, I was very interested in her answer – here's what she says;

1. What talent do you naturally have that makes you successful?

I don't think I've ever really thought about this until Lynette asked me! I do think I'm very good at spotting opportunities though – it's the entrepreneur in me probably. I'm constantly looking for opportunities and connections, for instance I'll often see an opportunity for my clients, it maybe something they've missed because their too close to their own business. I'll see a way forward for them that could be beneficial. I love being able to spot those opportunities and match companies with different people. Having an eye for connections in this way is a win-win for everyone.

2. When did you first realise that talent was going to help you and how do you use it?

I first realised I could do this in 1996, when I came up with the concept for my own business and wrote the original business plan, I spotted an opportunity then and it's been a priority of mine ever since.
