When I read my next Pink Expert's answer, I was pretty speechless – and it does take a lot to shut me up! Helen Johnson tells me it took her two attempts to do this. I guess it took two attempts because she was so determined to get it right and not give up. I'm very pleased she didn't give up. It's reading stories like Helen's that make me realise it's important not to give up and to keep going, even when it feels like you're not getting anywhere. Honestly...read this;
1. What talent do you naturally have that makes you successful?
I have no specific natural talent as such, just determination and I'm always prepared to work hard to try and achieve anything I do. I have never been afraid to think 'outside the box' and in fact have always gone out of my way to be different and not a 'sheep' and I am very self motivated, a good organiser and have a very good eye for detail. Most things I have done in life have been self-taught and I would love to work with someone like Alan Sugar who has the keen eye and brilliant ideas, as I would certainly put the hard work in. I am not driven by money, but the desire to do a good job. If I was driven by money, I'm sure I would be pretty rich by now, but I feel there are more important things in life. I like to write in my spare time and I am trying to get a TV script done and it doesn't bother me that it is a very competitive market and I may be wasting my time, but if I don't try I will never know.
2. When did you first realise that talent was going to help you and how do you use it?
At first I couldn't answer this question, then I thought back to when I was 5 years old and I packed my bags and left home. Of course I had to go back again, but it wasn't a happy place and I think it was at that moment I realised I had determination and the will to not accept everything that was thrown at me and all the strife that came after that made me a stronger person and more determined and I learnt from them each time. I truly believe that you have to suffer a little pain in life to appreciate the good and make the most of what you have.
I'd love you to answer Helen's questions. Would you? Please send them to me, Lynette at lynette@pinkskills.co.uk - thankyou!
