1) What talent do you naturally have that makes you successful?
The ability to be focused and the gift of putting my thoughts into words are my natural talents. They make me successful as a writer and a career woman. I am an Indian Civil Servant, a wife, mother and a published writer. None of this has come easy. I had to study really hard to join the Civil Services which, in India, is a really big deal. I’ve also struggled for years to become a published writer. How do I accomplish all this? By concentrating on the task at hand, by being disciplined about my writing, and by never giving up.
2) When did you first realise that talent was going to help you and how did you use it?
I realised I could write something that would interest others at a very early age. I was about nine years old when I wrote my first ‘novel’, a story for my siblings. It was very well received and I stayed on course ever since. In College I was student editor of the in-house magazine. I wrote for newspapers and magazines and then self-published a novel in 2000. This year two of my novels, both multicultural romances, have been published. ‘Toofani Days, Valentine Nights’ and ‘The Marine and the Indian Rose’.
