What talent do you naturally have that makes you successful?
My background is in art and design and I’ve always had an eye for colour, design and generally what goes well together. I am also naturally very interested in people, what they do, how they do it and I love helping clients achieve a design they are proud of and very happy with.
When did you first realise that talent was going to help you and how do you use it?
When I first started out, I was working for an Internet company and my colleagues often commented on my ability to get the colours just right and come up with the best visual solution. Now, it’s so thrilling to create a finished design (whether it’s a logo, a website or book cover) that started out as vague idea – and now look - it’s a beautiful design that makes their business stand out and attract customers.
What emotional attachment do you have to your work?
I love what I do, I love being creative and I love helping people and working together with people. I’m also very proud of my business, that I started it from scratch whilst 7 months pregnant. So this is a huge achievement which I feel is growing every day and going from strength to strength.
What tips do you have for other women who'd like to do your job?
Be passionate about it! And remember, be patient and considerate. You might be creating a visual of a concept that’s been an idea in someone’s head for a long time and you are finally bringing it to fruition. I don’t always get the design right on the first go, and what I think is the best design might not be what the client actually wants. So you have to really listen to your clients and try to see it from their point of view. And really love what you do as that will make such a big difference.
