What talent do you naturally have that makes you successful in your job?
The talent that I have that makes me successful in my job is my skill for being as people's person, when I am around people I naturally feel energised and become incredibly motivated. I really enjoy talking, finding out more about others and listening to their stories with a keen interest. Over the years I have developed my skill for communications, it has helped me connect with all types of people regardless of their background, my mind has become incredibly open and receptive to opportunities that life can offer through the power of conversation. Ultimately communication has opened many exciting doors to my life.
When did you first realise you had this talent and how do you use it everyday?
I realised my a talent for communication at quite a young age, using words to express myself whether that was through writing a poem, singing, dancing, my involvement with sports, these were all forms of communication that connected me towards people. I now own my own business Butterfly PR the services we provide are media training, coaching and events agency that raises the profiles of charities and business. Using my talent each day involves me implementing my people skills to open up the lines of communication either on the phone or in person, contacting clients via email, creating prospective contacts at networking events, writing news updates through social media. Using my peoples person talent for communications has helped win new clients and attract interest in my new business.
What emotionally attaches you to your work or business?
Knowing that I have actually made a difference is what keeps me emotionally attached to my business. I am naturally a results driven individual, for me it's vitally important to see and feel that I contributed towards in the positive outcome of project that I am involved within. Positive and constructive feedback for me is key.
What advise do you have for other women aspiring to set up a business?
Women are recognised for being multi talented, multi faceted, so what better person to launch a business. We have the ability to wear different hats at work and at home, we have one life, we have the choice and opportunity to live it well. If you have a dream a desire to set up business and those thoughts are just won't leave you, then you owe it to yourself to give it a try, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Go for it, with all gusto, passion, belief and faith that you can turn your dream into a reality.
Speak to other successful business owners, email, telephone, tweet them, there are so many way to reach them it doesn't necessarily have to be face to face, whatever you do communicate with them and get inspired. Read inspirational books and do your best to set up a business that you want, create the business that will make you want to get out of bed in the morning, whatever makes you tick and you have researched that you can generate an income from it... then please promise me that you will do it and when you do, let me know and I will share it with as many people as I can.
